The Flemish bishops, in consultation with the Rector of KU Leuven, have appointed Professor Reimund Bieringer as the new President of the Holy Spirit College and of the Leo XIII-Seminary in Leuven, as of September 1st, 2021. Professor Bieringer will temporarily remain President of the Justus Lipsius College, until a successor has been found. The bishops and the Rector thank Professor Bieringer for his willingness to accept this responsibility and wish him a smooth start.

Reimund is an alumnus of the American College who was ordained a priest of hus native diocese of Speyer (Germany) in 1988. Prior to being named Professor of New Testament in Leuven's Faculty of Theology, Reimund served as an associate pastor in his home diocese and occasionally assisted at the US Army post in Pirmasens, Germany. He is a world-renowned New Testament scholar, who has specialized in the study of 2 Corinthians and the Gospel of John.
