Bishop Muhich - Diocese of Rapid City

Bishop Peter Muhich was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Robert Brom at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, Duluth, on September 29, 1989.

Father Muhich is one of seven children of Louis and Sally Muhich. He attended elementary school at Eveleth public schools and high school at Eveleth High School. He attended college at St. Thomas College, studied theology at the American College at the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium, and has a licentiate degree in theology.

During Father Muhich’s ministry, he has served at St. Francis Church, Brainerd; St. Joseph Church, Grand Rapids; Our Lady of the Snows Church, Bigfork; St. Theresa Church, Effie; Holy Rosary Church, Aurora; Queen of Peace Church, Hoyt Lakes; St. Rose Church, Proctor; St. Philip Church, Saginaw; Blessed Sacrament Church, Hibbing; St. Leo Church, Hibbing; and Immaculate Conception Church, Hibbing. He is currently pastor of Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, Duluth; St. Mary Star of the Sea, Duluth; and Our Lady of Mercy, Duluth. Father Muhich also serves on the Presbyteral Council.

In addition, Father Muhich has served as auditor on the diocesan tribunal, assisted the deacon formation program, College of Consultors, Clergy Personnel Board, and Priest Personnel Board.

Bishop Muhich was named Bishop of Rapid City on May 12, 2020.
